Before you book
How it works
You write. We talk for twenty minutes about the light, the place and what you want to keep. I send a preparation guide. We shoot. A preview gallery follows within a week, and the finished images four to six weeks after the session, depending on who makes the selection.
What should we wear?
Plain fabrics, no logos, no busy patterns, and two or three tones across the whole group rather than everyone in their favourite colour. You get a guide with examples once the date is set, and we choose the looks together. If you are standing in a fitting room, send me the photos and I will tell you which one to buy - I do this with clients almost every week.
How do I book a date?
Your date is held once you have paid a deposit of 50 euro and, for larger bookings, signed the short shooting agreement. The deposit comes off the final invoice, so it is not an extra cost - it simply means the day is blocked for you and for nobody else. The balance is due after the session. The full terms are in the AGB.
Do I need hair and make-up?
Not necessarily, but it changes how you feel in front of the camera more than most people expect. I work with hair and make-up artists in Munich I have tested myself and can put you in touch. You book them directly, so there is no mark-up from me.
I have no idea how to pose.
Good. Neither do the people in these images. I do not arrange hands and chins - I give you something to do, and I photograph what happens in between. The first fifteen minutes are usually the warm-up, and I plan for them.
What if my child refuses to cooperate?
That is the normal course of a session, not a problem with it. Children who are bribed into smiling look bribed. We let them play, hide and come back, and the pictures are better for it.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Rain, fog and flat grey light are often better than sunshine - some of my favourite images were shot in a downpour. If the weather makes the session genuinely impossible, we move it at no cost.
How many photographs will I receive?
Within a week of the session you get a preview gallery with everything that worked - usually 300 to 500 frames. From there it is your call. Either you tell me to make the selection, and the finished gallery arrives within four weeks of the shoot; or you go through the previews yourself and pick up to 60 for final retouching, in which case I need two more weeks after your choice, so the whole thing can run to about six weeks. The price is the same either way, and nothing is ever charged per image.
When do I get the photos?
Four weeks if I make the selection, up to six if you choose the images yourself - the preview gallery comes within a week either way, and the two extra weeks are the retouching after your choice. You download high-resolution files for printing and smaller ones for sharing. If you need them faster, express delivery within one week costs 150 euro. The gallery stays open for at least twelve months, and I keep your files backed up for the same period, so nothing is lost if your laptop is.
Where do you shoot?
Munich and the surrounding area - your home, a studio, the street, the woods, the lake. The location is chosen for the light and for what the images should feel like, and we decide it together beforehand.
